Raytheon Technologies Early-Career Quality Assurance Engineer in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Raytheon’s Intelligence and Space (RI&S) has TWO new openings for Early-Career Quality Assurance Engineers (QAE) for our Pittsfield, MA facility. As a QAE, the effective candidate will represent RI&S, and the customer’s best interests in assuring product quality and effectiveness.

The facility in Pittsfield is a multi-company organization, dedicated to the repair and upgrade of the guidance system for the Trident missile. The QAE must be able to work with levels of this multi-corporation organization. The QAE will be expected to develop effective relationships with both internal and external customers, fostering a working environment based on trust and respect.

The effective candidate’s main function will be to ensure documentation and hardware are compliant to design specifications and are ready for presentation to the customer for sell-off. This activity requires attention to detail and rigor. In addition to their main function, the QAE is expected to learn and participate in traditional quality engineering functions – corrective actions, documentation updates, root cause analysis, continuous improvement projects, etc.

U.S. Citizenship required, as the candidate must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within first year of start date.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering or alike

  • Experience with handling International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) documentation

  • General knowledge of industry technical standards:

  • Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)

  • American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

  • American Society for Testing of Materials (ASTM)

  • General knowledge of aerospace/defense product technical requirements

  • Ability to understand technical documentation and intent

  • Read and understand written instructions and specifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work in a multi-company environment

  • Ability to work constructively with program, and functional personnel

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with peers, management, and customers

  • Strong desire to grow as a quality professional


  • Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance


    Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
