FM Consultant Engineer B&M in NORWOOD, Massachusetts

Boston Operations has an immediate opening for a Boiler & Machinery Consultant Engineer. B&M Consultant Engineers will interact with FM clients from many different industries. Engineers will use their expertise to evaluate boiler and machinery deficiencies, exposures, and risks. As a Boiler and Machinery Senior Consultant Engineer, you will develop strong client relationships to advise on risks associated with client businesses as well as develop and implement risk improvement strategies.
Responsibilities will include:
Evaluate the integrity and reliability of client production and support systems. Evaluate equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies, and deliver focused risk improvement solutions to reduce the client’s risk.
Use operating standards, data sheets and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
Prepare engineering reports in a timely fashion, to provide loss prevention recommendations and loss expectancies to support client risk improvement. Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations.
Conduct boiler and pressure vessel jurisdictional inspections as needed.
Illustrate the value-added differential of FM engineering capabilities.
Engineers will work from a home office, must be able to manage their time and work independently with minimal supervision.
This is a field-based role and will require travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate the operations and systems of the site and identify risks and hazards. Expected overnight travel is 30-35% on average.
Based on a candidate’s previous experience, this role can be for either a Consultant Engineer I or Consultant Engineer II. Successful Consultant Engineer candidates have the following qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (various specialties considered!)
0 - 2 years of industry experience - we will hire recent college grads
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good analytical, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
Efficient time management ability with minimal supervision
Solid technical capability including diverse knowledge of engineering principles
Ability to stay focused from a home office environment
Authorization to work in the country you are applying to work in
Physical ability to lift 25 pounds, able to climb ladders, balance, and deal with heights
Proficiency in MS Office products
A valid driver’s license
