Saint-Gobain Senior Research Technician - GFT in Northborough, Massachusetts
The Senior Research Technician performs moderately complex activities and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. He/she works with engineers and customers in solving related problems. In addition, this position may also perform advanced specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating and/or solving problems concerning complex processes, equipment and products for assigned areas.
Perform complex and specialized operations on a variety of machines and a variety of materials including metals, polymers and ceramics.
Conduct experiments as assigned in the areas of finishing, grinding, machining, tribology and metrology.
Work with project leaders to develop new test methods, to improve existing techniques and to update SOPs.
Use electronic data acquisition and metrology tools, such as micrometers and surface profileometer, record data and preform preliminary analysis.
Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation and trouble-shooting of experimental equipment or instruments.
Other duties in the department as assigned.
Associates degree in engineering, technical, or science related field (or demonstrated equivalent). 4-7 years of experience
Experience with complex assembly and processing or test equipment with CN/CNC & PLC controls, and/or lathes, milling machines, grinders and other finishing machine
Capability to use personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word, is a must. Able to graph and chart data.
Able to read blue print
Knowledge of AutoCAD, SOLID Works, and other CAD/CAM systems preferred
