Saint-Gobain Principal Manufacturing Technology Development Engineer - CertainTeed Platform in NORTHBORO, Massachusetts

The Principal Manufacturing Technology Development Engineer at Saint-Gobain Research (SGR) North America will lead the research and development on manufacturing processing and equipment technology development for industrializing new products and solutions within the building industry.- Collaborating with cross-functional team members from product and engineering design, R&D, business, manufacturing, customers, sales, suppliers, and external partners, the Principal Manufacturing Technology Development Engineer will lead the development and implementation of manufacturing technologies for both new and current products.- The candidate will be responsible for improving the product and process performance, reducing manufacturing costs while contributing to the corporation’s sustainability goals.

Qualified candidate must be experienced in planning and execution of innovative processing technology development by managing multiple projects simultaneously, leading prototype development through pilot production, and subsequently transferring manufacturing technologies to high volume production facilities. Demonstrated ability to lead R&D projects and deliver on budget, timeline, design specification, and quality is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design and technical specifications of manufacturing systems for building construction, establish manufacturing equipment and tools, identify, and manage manufacturing risks through innovation stage gate processes.

  • Develop and establish value proposition of cost-effective and sustainable industrial processing solutions by collaborating with Saint-Gobain R&D, CertainTeed businesses, and internal & external collaborators.

  • Establish processing equipment and tooling technologies for industrializing new/improved product solutions for building construction through testing, validating, and piloting. Transfer industrialized solutions to high-volume manufacturing.

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for product quality improvement and cost reduction.

  • Timely document all project results and file intellectual property on a timely manner

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years, Master’s Degree with 10+ years’ experience, PhD with 6+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering/Digital Technology with a focus on manufacturing. Degree in related fields with extensive experience in manufacturing technologies are also acceptable.

  • Skilled in technical innovation, leadership, and mechanical/manufacturing engineering

  • Product development and material processing technology experience; prototyping through piloting

  • Experienced in technology transfer to manufacturing.

  • Experience in Stage Gate process for innovation preferred

  • Experience using CAD/CAM software preferred

  • Knowledgeable on Construction Materials, Building Science preferred

  • Management of 3 rd party contractors preferred

  • Knowledge on sustainability, circularity preferred

  • PMP Certification preferred

  • DFMEA Certification preferred
