Massachusetts Employer Finishing Department Manager in Northampton, Massachusetts

NORTHAMPTON Full time 1) Generating and implementing weekly production goals and schedules in conjunction with production managers and finishing personnel. Assist estimators in developing finishing estimates. 2) Organizing and overseeing necessary manpower and procedures to achieve daily and long term production goals. Prioritize job schedule and booth space requirements. Good management and people skills. 3) Maintaining quality in all aspects of the finishing process from staining and spraying to final rub out and touch -up. A thorough knowledge of finishing processes and materials is required especially regarding full filled rubbed out gloss finishes. 4) Meeting deadlines which may require a willingness to work overtime. Assist as needed in all finishing operations. 5) Overseeing the production of finish samples on an as needed basis. 6) Maintaining accurate written records and sample boards of finishing processes so finishes can be duplicated. 7) Ensuring the finishing area is kept clean and well maintained. Create and implement regular maintenance schedules for all equipment. 8) Handling the ordering and disposal of finishing materials while optimizing cost control. Ensure that materials are ordered in time to facilitate production schedules. 9) Maintaining OSHA records and ensuring that proper safety procedures are followed by all personnel. 10) Staying current with new developments in the finishing industry. High school diploma or the equivalent. At least 7 years experience finishing high end architectural millwork and cabinetry. Extensive knowledge of finishing products and processes. Experience managing a team of finishers. The ability to do detailed work accurately and neatly. Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and the ability to pay attention to detail. Communication and problem solving skills. Good interpersonal skills enabling coordination with architects, job managers, and finishing personnel. Windows based computer skills for maintaining records
