Amazon Technical Program Manager II, RMTO in North Reading, Massachusetts

Amazon Robotics is actively seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Robotics Manufacturing & Technical Operations (RMTO) team focused on New Product Introduction (NPI) technologies. This individual will be responsible for a portfolio of new products being produced and scaled through our supplier network. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing engineering to deliver projects on time and on budget. Multiple projects will be managed at the same time.

This individual will build management and executive-level reporting, coordinate hardware/controls/software readiness for production, manage programmatic risk, and hold cross-functional teams accountable to scope and timelines for NPI programs. You will work closely with internal RMTO teams providing technical leadership based on what is best for both the product and the customer. You will partner with external cross-functional teams both upstream and downstream to ensure alignment to the build schedule and deliverables. You will own creation, adoption, and continuous improvement of internal processes to improve speed, efficiency, cost, and quality.

Key job responsibilities

• Create a work backwards schedule based on Program needs, track and report critical path, status, risks, dependencies, and owners in a project management software.

• Support NPI suppliers onsite, including during build readiness, execution, and or post-mortem assessments.

• Manage and submit a unified fixture & tooling budget through a capital appropriation request (CAR) in partnership with Advanced Manufacturing and Manufacturing Test teams.

• Manage and track build exception lists to funnel deviations and/or changes to help RMTO fill the gap for Hardware Engineering.

• Partner with Robotics Supply Chain (RSC) to ensure on-time delivery of parts with proper tracking and traceability mechanisms.

• Drive cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of and appropriate prioritization for all functions, schedules, and budgets.

• Manage and track yield, defects, and yield bridging from build to build for individual programs. Implement standardized tracking mechanism in partnership with Quality and Supply Chain.

• Track and continuously improve on build timelines from program to program – we should get faster the more we mature.

• Create & manage communication channels between cross-functional teams.

• Develop metrics to measure program health and readiness.

About the team

The RMTO TPM team's objective is to manage the end-to-end process of integrating complex systems and components across functions for Amazon Robotics’ Manufacturing & Technical Operations (RMTO), part of Global Robotics Delivery (GRD). This includes effective cross-functional team management, coordinating with stakeholders, optimizing resources, mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

North Reading, MA, USA | Westborough, MA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • Up to 30% travel (domestic & international) travel required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Hardware New Product Introduction phase gates and milestones

  • Experience working with Tier-based supplier network

  • Experience working with Smartsheet, Asana, or similar Project Management software

  • Experience in production / manufacturing of sheet metal, machined parts, and/or integrated electromechanical systems

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field
