Amazon Robotics is located in the greater Boston area, the epicenter of robotics innovation. Our diverse team of engineers come from all over the world to design, test and build our dynamic fleet of robots and mechatronic systems. Having our offices, labs, test floors and factories all co-located means that we can design the hardware, write the code, test, build and watch it all come to life. This allows us to innovate quickly and on limitless ideas. Current advancements are underway in autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive analytics, and much more.

We are seeking candidates with exceptional technical skills, a demonstrated capability to learn fast, and a strong interest in design for reliability and service. As part of this highly influential team, candidates have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with global teams within Amazon to contribute to the challenges and continuous innovation of the Amazon Robotic Systems.

Key job responsibilities

As a System Reliability Engineer you will contribute to the development of robotic solutions optimized for availability, life cycle cost and performance.

  • Support Design for Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability activities during new product development.

  • Develop reliability models for complex electro-mechanical systems

  • Support Failure Modes Effects Analyses for new products

  • Assist in the development and execution of reliability test plans and data collection strategies

  • Assess vendor reliability data

  • Advocate for the customer during the design process on failure modes, fault diagnostics and impacts to product supportability

  • Develop lifecycle support strategies and mechanisms for new products

  • Ensure supportability requirements and concerns are addressed for field launch

  • Work with customers to identify opportunities for improved maintenance strategies

  • Assist with processes to expand diagnostic capabilities improve ergonomics, and reduce troubleshooting time

  • Work with Learning team to develop and improve Amazon Robotics University technical manuals and training modules

A day in the life

Use engineering and statistics knowledge to design test plans, analyze results and solve issues during product development.

Support Sr Engineers by gathering information, developing models and analyzing data.

Work as a member of development teams to identify, prioritize and mitigate risks to system reliability and supportability.

Engage with cross functional teams to develop requirements, models, support mechanisms .

System Reliability Engineering is a team of experts in diverse engineering disciplines joined by a passion to astonish customers through solving complex optimization problems. We succeed by embracing ambiguity, moving at a fast pace, and supporting each other's growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in reliability, test engineering or product development.

  • Advanced degree in engineering, materials science or physics.
