Teradyne PCB/PCBA Design for Test Engineer in North Reading, Massachusetts

Organization & Role:

The Teradyne Operations NPI group is seeking a Design for Test Engineer to join a team of dedicated, enthusiastic, and energetic process engineers to develop structural test processes for Teradyne’s ATE and Mil/Aero Platforms. In this role the Design for Test Engineer will be responsible for PCBA Structural test development and will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing test solutions for our printed circuit board products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and reliability of our products, contributing to Teradyne’s mission to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

This role requires 3 days on site at Teradyne.

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate with Hardware Development groups from across the company to develop structural test strategies for printed circuit boards at each quality gate in production including flying probe test and in-circuit test platforms.

  • Influence the printed circuit board component selection, schematic and physical layout processes to ensure project objectives are met in the overall product quality, validation, and testing strategy.

  • Drive the contract manufacturing process for Flying Probe and ICT development including fixture and program development quotes, schedules, documentation, validation, and release to production.

  • Innovate methods and means of improving quality gate processes, efficiencies, and best practices for structural test of printed circuit boards.

  • Collaborate with various functional skills (SW/HW/Pilot Lines/Operations/etc.) in overall printed circuit board, higher level assembly and system level test development planning and execution.

    Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency with reading printed circuit board electrical schematics, component data sheets and PC layout tools such as Cadence Allegro.

  • Proficiency with In-circuit Test development on platforms such as the Teradyne Test Station or equivalent.

  • Understanding and experience with the ICT Fixture development and fabrication process.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with cross functional teams

  • Familiarity with basic PCBA Design for Test layout rules and DFT guidelines is expected.

  • Flexibility for occasional short domestic or international travel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Scripting language (Perl, Python, etc.) Visual Basic / C# .NET is a plus

  • Experience working with electronic manufacturing service providers and contract manufacturers.

  • Proficient in measurement techniques and process controls for yield analysis, statistics CP/CPK, and normal distributions is a plus.

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering / Engineering Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of related experience or 2+ y ears working Test Engineering or similar.
