Position Summary Teledyne Marine Systems is seeking a manufacturing engineer to join its team to work with development engineering & production operations to ensure delivered products fully satisfy customer requirements. He/She must be a self-starter & be able to work in a team environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepare new processes & products for manufacturing & support existing processes & products Identify & complete projects focused on reducing costs & improving cycle times Perform failure analysis & utilize problem solving skills to determine root cause & implement corrective actions to eliminate root cause failures Develop manufacturing processes & routings to optimize production flow, assembly methods & production equipment Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing & planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout & by developing fixtures & tooling for assembly & test processes Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, & material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements Maintain professional & technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks & participating in professional societies Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members & evaluating results Design, develop & test &/or sources & cost-justify various tools, machinery & equipment for recommended manufacturing methods Review of engineering drawings & bills of material (BOM) prior to release & initiate engineering change orders (ECOs) to correct/update released documents Initiate product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement & improved efficiency Perform supplier evaluations & make/buy analysis as requested Candidate must possess U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. Person Education & Experience: BS in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering 5 - 10 years of experience in Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering, or a combination of experience & education Adept in statistical analysis, design for manufacturability (DFM), failure mode & effects analysis (FMEA), gauge R & R, process capability & lean manufacturing Experienced with fixture design, manufacturing equipment specification, cost analysis, supplier coordination & project management Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong organizational, analytical & communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite, Solid Works & 3-D solid modeling Excellent coaching skills - ability to transfer knowledge to assembly & test technicians Broad knowledge of electrical & mechanical testing & troubleshooting techniques Uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues & broad design matters May serve as a "subject matter expert" to management & external spokesperson for the organization The physical/mental demands & work environment Regularly required to talk or hear & frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; & reach with hands & arms Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; & stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Able to occasionally lift &/or move up to 30 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception & ability to adjust focus Periodic travel up to 10% of the time.
