Vibram Companies PU Operator in North Brookfield, Massachusetts
Perform various duties to operate a machine to mold polyurethane and polyurethane/rubber products into various footwear products, primarily removing molded products from molds, cleaning molds or debris and spraying molds with a mold release agent.
Work from written or verbal instructions and specifications; prescribed procedures and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Use air hose to loosen and separate product from mold, remove product by hand, visually inspect for cracks, blisters, etc. and put soles into chiller. Segregate seconds. Clean mold, removing flash and spray with mold release agent. Place rubber inserts in appropriate mold, smooth into place, apply film to top of mold in place for polyurethane molding. Rotate across Desma 1 and 2 as requested.
Fill out production forms recording total production, seconds, samples and waste.
Respond to alarm to stop machine, remove and replace screw and clean nozzle. Place screw in solvent.
Assist Team Leader in setting up machine, cleaning and changing molds, running samples and making machine adjustments. Perform visual and measurement inspections, specific weight and other tests as instructed.
Detect and report defective and unsafe equipment and materials as well as unusual situations to supervisor. Observe, obey, all safety rules, practices and procedures. Wear and employ all required safety equipment and devices. Maintain equipment and work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
3-6 months of experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
