The newly formed Watts Digital team spearheads the development of cutting-edge customer-facing solutions within Watts in coordination with business units, focusing on delivering actionable and trusted insights to customers through intuitive solutions that continuously evolve to meet ever-changing user needs.
ROLE PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Watts Digital team. As a valued technical leader, you will be responsible for ensuring our technology decisions align and scale with our architectural north star. You will architect, build, and deploy scalable systems that are used directly by customers. You will lead the investigation and implementation of emergent and disruptive technologies that allow us to move faster. You will balance speed and agility based on product maturity and business requirements for scale and security. You will champion our strategic direction and vision while partnering with the Product and Design leads to build world class products.
Technical Implementation and Architecture
Leading the implementation of the technology roadmap as it relates to the Watts Digital Solutions ecosystem
Leading and contributing to technical architecture discussions and driving technical decisions within your team
Ensuring that the systems we develop and maintain result in highly scalable, feature-rich solutions that minimize support costs and provide an outstanding customer experience
Communicating technology decisions and outcomes to key stakeholders (e.g., sponsors, ecosystem partners, product teams)
Developing and maintaining solution architecture diagrams and documentation
Advising and supporting the team on selection and implementation of modern technologies including languages, open-source and third-party tools to increase efficiency and improve technology and product offerings
Execution, Product Delivery and Results
Leading the delivery of features and functionality through all stages of the development process, including analysis, architecture/design, and implementation
Working closely with other Engineers, Quality Assurance, Operations, and 3rd party vendors to successfully deliver and deploy solutions to production
Advocating a continuous improvement mindset regarding our development process, with a focus on how we can automate regular, high-quality, releases in an agile environment
Continuously rebalancing product & technical features, which maximize value and minimize effort to focus on the highest returning initiatives for business and customer
Championing a culture of learning, measurement, accountability, and quality via code reviews, paired programming, and other collaboration opportunities with the team
Collaborating with Product Owners on the backlog and providing high level effort estimation to plan feature prioritization more accurately and development
Collaborating with Design on mock-ups and wireframes to provide valuable feedback that leads to an improved customer experience
BUs, Operations, IT, Information Security and Infrastructure
Partnering with hardware BUs to understand their needs and deliver platform-oriented solutions
Continuing to evolve security practices and controls to meet the needs of protecting customer data and systems
Partnering with IT and operations in support of enterprise IT strategy
Ensuring we are building necessary observability into our systems that provide transparency across the entire stack
Assisting Customer Success and Operations team in triaging and resolving production issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
7+ years in software engineering across a wide range of products, at least 2 of those years serving as a technical leader for a team or department
5+ years working with Cloud Native technologies, preferably in Azure
5+ years working with C# .NET (or similar languages)
3+ years working with JavaScript frameworks, such as Vue or React
Demonstrated hands-on experience architecting, designing, building, testing and deploying features and products that are used by customers
Deep understanding of API and system design
Proven ability to collaborate with designers, product managers to come up with high-impact ways of quickly solving our users’ problems
Thrives in a collaborative environment involving different functions, stakeholders, and subject matter experts
Attention to detail, especially around performance, accessibility, reliability, and security
Designing and developing microservice-based architectures and data engineering pipelines
Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Code analysis tools (e.g. Sonar)
Deep understanding of software engineering practices (e.g. Agile software development, test driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.)
Deep understanding with Data Engineering & Advanced Analytics
Familiarity with Hardware and Network engineering is a bonus
Experience dealing with challenging priorities in a fast-paced environment
