WATTS Sr. Systems Engineer - Linux in North Andover, Massachusetts
The Senior System Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information system that supports core organizational; functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems, The Senior systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to helps to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of It system investments. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to the Systems Engineer staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Monitor existing system to ensure structural integrity
Oversee the development and installation of new hardware and software
Install and configure operating systems and other software and routinely test installed software for glitch detection to IT support staff
Ensure constant availability of technical resources
Design and implement security systems and redundant backups to maintain data safety
Write custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention and streamline operations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- No Direct Reports
5+ years’ of Linux System Engineering experience
Strong experience with the LAMP stack
In depth knowledge of network design and file systems knowledge
Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objective
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
Ability to conduct research into system issues and products as required
Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and creative problem- solving abilities
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
