State of Massachusetts Sewage Treatment Plant Op II - NOR in Norfolk, Massachusetts
Operates and maintains newly constructed MBR facility including control of flow, valving and pumps in order to achieve compliance with all EPA and DEP permits. Operates a SCADA system, including remote access functions. Monitors the system on a continual basis to ensure that the system is functioning normally. Collects samples and performs sophisticated laboratory analysis to determine the efficiency of the process, and makes adjustments based on the results of said analysis. Maintains accurate records regarding process control, maintenance activities and laboratory analysis to facilitate reporting to state and federal agencies. Performs housekeeping duties as needed, including but not limited to mowing, raking, snow shoveling, painting and cleaning. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Grade 3M Full License issued by the Mass Board of Certification of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators.* *Based on assignment, applicants may be required to possess a current and valid certificate or an appropriate grade issued by the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation, maintenance and /or repair or mechanical, electrical and related equipment in a water or sewage treatment plant, stationary power plant or pumping station, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. A certificate of completion of a program in waste water treatment from a recognized school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
*Education toward a certificate will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, applicants may be required to possess a current and valid certificate or an appropriate grade issued by the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
