Duties: The hours for this position are 1:00 - 9:00 p.m. Oversee and monitor communications activities in order to ensure compliance with governing laws, rules, and regulations. Receive, review, and transmit messages over a statewide fixed broadcast system under rules and regulations of the Federal Communication Commission. Receive, review, and transmit electronic messages to and from other law enforcement agencies and state officials. Broadcasting and receiving messages over a fixed radio system to Department of Correction facilities as well as radio equipped vehicles. Maintaining daily records and logs of all radio and electronic messages received and transmitted. Preparing and maintaining file reference records. Responsible for preparing records related to equipment and overall unit performance. Contact aid sources for assistance request in times of emergencies. Typing various reports. Perform related work as required. Qualifications: Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation of radio receiving and transmitting equipment. Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Restricted Radiotelephone Operator\'s permit issued by the Federal Communications Commission. Preferred Qualifications: A current/valid driver?s license. The applicant must have knowledge of computer systems as well as radio communication systems. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs. The applicant must have the ability to clearly interact with all employees inside the unit and stakeholders inside and outside the agency. The applicant must be able to speak clear English in order to communicate effectively while dispatching information. Dispatchers must be able to follow oral and written direction and be able to remain calm in potentially stressful situations. Comments: This is a civil service position.
