MERSEN EV Mechanical Engineer in Newburyport, Massachusetts

Description/Job Summary Develop and design EV products and processes per customer/internal requirements and standards. Develop project schedules as required. Utilize company 3D design software and data management systems as needed. Create design layouts, drawings, and perform necessary calculations for designing state-of -the-art product, automatic machines, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling required to produce quality products in an efficient, cost effective manner. Prepare and present project details and updates to cross functional teams and Management. Support Cross Functional Team, Manufacturing, and Quality; on product development and release, product strategies, objectives, action plans, and open actions to closure. In a team environment, design and qualify all products so they can be manufactured and meet target cost, performance, and timing requirements. Develop processes, write procedures, and provide engineering support for all locations when required. Work and collaborate with Automotive OEM's, Tier 1, and Component Suppliers on EV Product Design, Release, and Changes, with emphasis on Design and Cost for Manufacturability of Product. * BSME or equivalent * 5 years plus of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with automotive industry experience preferred * Leadership skills in a team environmentability to work efficiently beyond department boundaries * Able to work with internal, industry, and customer standards * Proficiency with 2D and 3D design software; preferably Solid Works, and STEP * Ability to calculate and show mathematically the design integrity * Familiarity with machine shop practices * Proficiency with industry standard drawing practices; GD&T experience desired and a strong plus * Process capability understanding/experience preferred and a strong plus * Creative, hands-on individual * Experience in power electronics and power systems a strong plus * Able to work in high voltage and high current environments * Automotive design and manufacturing experience highly desired and a strong plus * Knowledge of principles of concurrent engineering, design for assembly, and design for manufacture * Knowledge of principles of ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, and IATF a strong plus * Plastic materials, processes, design, and molding experience a strong plus * Machine design experience a plus * Experience in Engineering Disciplines and Documentation such as DFMEA, PFMEA, DFA, DFM, DVP&R, Process Flow, Control Plans, Process Control Methods, 8D/5D, 5 Why, APQP, and Timelines are highly desirable and a strong plus. * Ability and willing to travel to Juarez, Mexico Plant and to Customer Facilities/Plants Globally.Frequency of travel may increase prior to and when launching new Products
