Jacobs FederalOperations provides a wide range of services to government and industry inengineering, environmental, operations and maintenance, scientific,engineering, environmental and technical services. Our clients includeUSAF, USACE, DOE, USCG, NASA, Dow, TVA, and Denso. We are currently executingmany contracts, performing work that is essential to our clients' missionsacross a broad range of functional areas.

Position Summary:

Has completeunderstanding and application of principles, theories, concepts, and industrypractices and standards through education, training and work experience. Performswork of complex scope. Works under general direction, participates in settingassignment objectives and strategies; plans own task schedule to satisfyobjectives; work is reviewed for adequacy on completion. Develops, plans,organizes and manages the HSE Program for one or more major projects. Ifmore than one project, travel may be required. Leads and evaluates Level1 and Level 2 personnel. Interfaces with project and operationsmanagement and client representatives.

Qualifications

  • Five plus (5 ) years of experience required

  • Must meet USACE EM 385-1 requirements for site safety and health officer for hazardous waste operations sites.

  • Two years technical training required

  • Field HSE experience required

  • Advanced medical certification and/or advanced HSE certification preferred

We are seeking an individual who has been a safety person in Construction or General Industry for 5 continuous years with an OSHA 30hr course and OSHA 40hr course under their belt.

b. The candidate, as a minimum, must produce a copy of their instructor-signed OSHA 30- hour training card (or course completion if within 90 days of having completed the training and card has not yet been issued).

They will have completed:

(1) The 30-hour OSHA General Industry safety class (may be web-based training if the student is able to directly ask questions of the instructor by chat or phone) or

(2) The 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry safety class (may be web-based training if the student is able to directly ask questions of the instructor by chat/phone), or

c. In addition, the candidate is also required to have proof of employment for:

(1) Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or

(2) Five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general industry (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or

(3) If the candidate has a Third-Party, Nationally Accredited (ANSI or National Commission for Certifying Agencies - NCCA) SOH-related certification, only 4 years of experience is needed. >See Appendix Q for list of certifications.

d. Candidate shall maintain competency through having taken 8 hours of documented formal, on-line, or self-study safety and health related coursework every year. Examples of continuing education activities that meet this requirement are: writing an article, teaching a class, reading/writing professional articles, attendance/participation in professional societies/meetings, etc.

Work Environment

Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task.The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and coldextreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required. Workenvironment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlinesassociated with the completion of a task. Position will require multipletask efforts.

Physical Requirements

The abilityto squat, crawl, kneel and climb is required (up to 25%). The ability to bend,stoop, and crouch is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards overrough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well aslift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 25%).

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must havesufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, andkneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.

Equipment and Machines

Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer,printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment includingdesk supplies and other work-related tools as required.

Attendance

Attendanceis critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal dutyhours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little asone-hour advance notice.Punctuality and regular attendance arenecessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjustto surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times whendealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise andaccurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Groomingand dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safetyrisk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere bybehaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personaltransportation to work site is required. Must be able to wear personal protectiveequipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personaltransportation for the purpose of moving around the sites to accomplish jobfunctions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel isrequired.When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wearseat belt and, in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle isin motion.
