O&M Specialist

Position is to be based at Hanscom Air Force Base, Lexington, MA.


This position is based at Hanscom Air Force Base, Lexington, MA. A new Combined Heat and Power facility has been constructed adjacent to an existing steam plant and will be operated by HAFB personnel. The successful candidate will assist with the transition of the new CHP plant from commissioning through handoff to base operations and provide ongoing operations and maintenance support. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, Energy Infrastructure, the O&M Specialist will:

  • Develop and implement, routine, short-term and long-term maintenance plans for a 4.6 Megawatt Solar combustion turbine with Heat Recovery Steam Generator and balance of plant

  • Liaise with customer’s operations personnel and provide operations support to customer’s O&M staff

  • Coordinate third-party contractors providing scheduled, unscheduled, preventive, and predictive maintenance support to NORESCO installed equipment

  • Prepare, maintain, and update maintenance tasks in CMMS. Generate monthly and annual summary reports for plant O&M activities

  • Ensure maintenance services are scheduled in accordance with the accepted intervals and standards and that the work is performed in a timely manner

  • Identify resources required for planned tasks such as parts, tooling, equipment, materials, and work procedures

  • Review information from oil samples, vibration data, service reports, operating reports, and OEM recommendations to propose and schedule component replacement

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities related to operations and maintenance

  • Monitor all warranty programs, execute warranty claims, and validate work is performed per terms of the warranty and in a timely manner

  • Assist in developing critical path plans for major shutdowns

  • Ensure accurate and necessary historical data is maintained in the CMMS program

  • Ensure that all maintenance practices are performed in accordance with NORESCO Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines

  • Comply with established corporate ethics policies and standards of behavior

Qualifications Required:

  • Five years of experience in the electric power industry with strong working knowledge of CHP plant operations and maintenance

  • Maintenance planning experience

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify innovative solutions

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in industrial settings and compliance to industry EHS practices
