The Scientific Operations Department provides globally-recognized scientific leadership in the area of specialty measurement in the life, food, and materials sciences. We use that understanding to direct the development of innovative products and solutions to be workflow based, enabling our customers to solve critical analytical challenges and advance scientific understanding.
A Principal Scientist in the Scientific Operations group is responsible for proactively providing expert scientific contribution which impacts product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters as the leading specialty measurement company. This includes providing leadership to a team(s) of scientists in the development of new science, technologies, methods, practices and ways of working, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using Waters product portfolio to support business activities and new product development.
Works highly independent with little guidance from higher level scientist/manager
Maintain state of art techniques knowledge and theory
Builds relationships across company and with customers; formulates strategy with marketing and product centers
Formulate novel ideas for Intellectual Property (IP) and patent filings.
Supports customers as partner and advisor with deep understanding of needs
Provides scientific leadership to support market segment and drive revenue growth
Proactively engages and collaborates with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
Identify, develop, and champion new ideas or fields of research
Routinely produces scientific content, marketing collateral and publishes peer-reviewed articles
8+ years scientific experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline
Post graduate degree (desired) or 10+ years with B.S.
Advanced scientific knowledge in the trends and technology related to the discipline of separations science with specific concentration in liquid chromatography
Experience in the application of chromatographic theory and design of experiment (DOE) in LC method development
Advanced knowledge and experience related to the use of liquid chromatography in the field of small molecule pharmaceuticals
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
Proven track record of analytical abilities and learning agility
Excellent interpersonal skills and amenability to a team environment
