A technically strong business development leader with excellent interpersonal skills is sought to join the Business Development organization within IDEX Scientific Fluidics and Optics to support organic and inorganic growth strategy development and execution. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Technology, Business Development & Strategy for IDEX Scientific Fluidics and Optics and will be an instrumental contributor to the evolution and management of the organization’s acquisition strategy, including strategic planning, rolling 3-year strategic plans, and key strategic decisions.
This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, exceptional product, and market expertise, and an ability to thrive and influence outcomes in a highly matrixed organization. This role is strategically positioned as part of the SF&O talent pipeline for general management.
The applicant should possess sound knowledge and understanding of optics, fluidics, or life sciences and have strong commercial excellence background.
Site Location: Negotiable within the US.
As Director of Business Development for SF&O, you will assist in growing the size of the business over the next three to five years through a combination of above-market organic growth and impactful acquisitions.
Assess new market adjacency opportunities for attractiveness, ease of execution, valuation, and entry points
Analyze industry and market trends, competitive threats, expansion opportunities, and internal performance to support strategic initiatives
Analyze M&A opportunities in support of, and collaboration with, all SF&O businesses
Develop relationships with acquisition target companies
Collaborate with stakeholders to create deal hypotheses and identify key due diligence items
Participate in due diligence activities and post-acquisition implementations
Ability to travel 25% to 40% depending on location.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science or Engineering. MBA preferred.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressively more responsible commercial roles in life sciences or biotech industries. Experience with a strategic management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity firm, or comparable role in corporate setting preferred.
Experience in corporate development and acquisitions, due diligence, financial analysis, market and competitive research and analysis, and strategic planning
Excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex situations into information that will drive business decisions
A highly motivated, autonomous individual who can work independently and set their own priorities
Collaborate and lead with influence, corporate and functional partners, to accomplish key priorities
Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organizational environment and to interact with executives at the most senior levels
