Nuveen Investments VP, UX Designer in Massachusetts


Position Summary

The UX Designer Consultant plays a key role in implementing customer-centric web and mobile solutions supporting Nuveen. Workingas part of the digital marketing team; the UX designer performs digital research, gathers and develops business requirements, use cases and functional specifications for internal and external digital properties to craft an engaging user experience. The UX designer plays a lead role in implementing web and mobile solutions supporting multiple TGAM business units and products. A primary focus is to understand the needs and strategic goals of the business – balanced with client expectations and needs – to identify digital solutions and user journeys using digital best practices and implementing the newest innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Define client or audience expectations and needs and translate those into requirements, user journeys and functional mockups and specifications.

  • Gather requirements through a variety of techniques (e.g. workshops, work sessions and interviews).

  • Review requirements with the product and development team to ensure common understanding.

  • Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mock-ups, and wireframe prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

  • Establish user journey acceptance criteria, ensuring each user journey meets the acceptance criteria. Document, test and retest user journeys as necessary.

  • Ability to scope design initiatives accurately and prioritize work items appropriately.

  • Set UX branding standards for all systems produced for end user technologies, including both desktop and mobile systems. This involves outlining template UX designs and creating style guides for developers.

  • Maintain consistency in design language, visual elements and defining behavior, including iconography, typography, colors and message displays for use across the organization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years UX designer experience or related field is required. Knowledge of financial services or asset management industry is preferred.

  • Experience creating and implementing best-of-breed UX design standards, technologies and digital best practices.

  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes and storyboards

  • Experience using design language software

  • Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML 5, CSS3, JavaScript

Preferred Qualifications

  • A sophisticated eye for design including intelligently executed layouts, refined use of typography and incorporation of an appropriate photographic style.

  • Core interaction design skills, knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, and a well-established understanding of mobile usability.

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail.

  • Outstanding ability to think creatively

  • Motivated self-starter who is able to work independently.

  • Team player with solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to deliver effective oral and written communications.

  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional team is a plus
