Job Description
The Region Director, Rx is a dynamic and inspirational leader who plays a critical role in creating a culture of differentiated patient care and business excellence in pharmacies across their market with business oversight of up to 68 pharmacy retail locations and an average span of control of 4 direct reports and over 1,000 colleagues. The Region Director, Rx has ultimate responsibility for patient satisfaction and business success in their market. Specifically, the Region Director, Rx partners with and coaches their District Leaders to inspire their teams to deliver on the core business with excellence, embrace change in an evolving omnichannel ecosystem, and launch new healthcare programs and services to keep our communities healthy and engaged with our brand. The Region Director, Rx brings deep, firsthand knowledge of retail pharmacy operations to help their teams grow the business through expanded services, identify and address performance opportunities, and comply with all required Company policies and requirements, keeping safety a top priority. To enable sustainable market success, the Region Director, Rx is specifically responsible to:• Cultivate and maintain a healthy Region talent pipeline, including overseeing the development of Region Director, Rx Emerging Leaders and career progression for emerging talent to maintain a strong District Leader bench and, within their Districts, a robust Pharmacy Manager succession strategy• Set and communicate Region priorities in an engaging and inclusive manner, based on Corporate and Divisional direction; ensure District Leaders and Region support partners understand the “why” behind new services, initiatives and goals and are able to engage their teams to embrace and lead through change• Conduct regular formal and informal check-ins with all District Leaders to track progress against business and developmental goals building a strong relationship and inspiring trust• Improve Region-level store performance measures (e.g., scripts, service, patient care, etc.) by coaching District Leaders to identify and address root-cause barriers to success and redefine mindsets and behaviors with their team and support partners (i.e., DSPL/DPC)• Oversee community responsibility and drive implementation of compliance initiatives at a state and Region level• Grow the pharmacy business by instilling a growth mindset in leaders to embrace new healthcare formats, differentiated services, and innovative ways to improve the patient experience • Partner across business lines to foster a true one team mindset through exporting and importing talent as appropriate to drive our total Company and business strategies forward• Connects greater Region support network to the strategy and vision to drive positive outcomes and mitigate risk - including HR, Asset protection, Patient Safety and others as neededPrimary Job Duties & Responsibilities:People Leadership & Development:• Cultivate the Region talent pipeline, including oversight and development of District Leaders and RDEL, Rx• Manage succession plans and promote Region and District-level staffing to meet overall colleague and business needs• Oversee relationship with Region training leaders to ensure the consistent delivery and completion of all colleague training programs, emphasis on required training for licensure(s)• Oversee District Leaders to ensure appropriate staffing and scheduling of colleagues to meet patient demand and improve colleague engagement• Drive relationships with Corporate and Region stakeholders and support partners to advance the needs of local market leaders and to improve upon colleague and/or customer experience • Create a culture of recognition, empowerment, development, and inclusion that attracts and retains talent at all levels• Identify, mentor, and develop future District and Region Leadership talent• Deliver timely performance reviews and targeted and purposeful coaching and counseling for individual District Leaders as neededBusiness / Financial Planning:• Develop and execute business plans and strategies to deliver on all business performance measures, e.g., P&L, scripts-to-budget, immunizations, MCP, payroll management, etc.• Actively review business reports to derive insights about Region and District performance; utilize metrics as a tool to diagnose root cause and inform the creation of both short and long-term strategies• Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and business trends, using this information to proactively plan for risk and capitalize on opportunities• Operate with strong business acumen and have accountability for the overall P&L for the retail pharmacies within your Region.Operations:• Set and communicate market goals in an engaging and inclusive manner• Set and execute through District Leaders our patient care strategy including, but not limited to, immunizations and adherence programs, etc.• Engage District Leaders to deliver against new and existing programs and services with excellence through their teams• Champion differentiated patient care and service at all levels, model behaviors that exhibit this• Ensure District Leaders equipped to drive compliance with community responsibility activities and all relevant Company policies and obligations• Inspire District Leaders to cultivate strong foundations in patient safety, compliance and quality through maintaining store adherence to BOP rules and regulations, audit procedures and educating on DUR best practices.Portfolio Growth:• Lead teams to drive value for the brand through flawless execution of programs that impact more than one District (ReadyFill, ScriptSync, etc.)• Provide market-specific input to development and execution of omnichannel strategy; oversee implementation of omnichannel programs (Rx delivery, etc.) effectively to drive patient engagement and loyalty• Prepare DLs to launch new store formats with excellence to build and evolve the brand• Implement strategies that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the retail pharmacy operations to include colleague engagement, patient service, safety, community responsibility, inventory controls, asset protection, P&L performance, Rx vendor relationships, and real estate.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 131,500
Maximum: 297,250
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience leading others in a highly competitive retail multi-unit setting• Consistent record of building successful teams and developing key talent• Demonstrated ability to lead a large organization and manage multi-million-dollar business unit to achieve business results • Demonstrated ability to understand and break down highly complex situations to deliver impactful solutions in real time. Track record of actively taking on issues in a decisive manner, while keeping broader organizational dynamics in mind and empowering your leaders to obtain results through building behaviors. Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise.• Demonstrated abilities to lead under pressure, adapt to changing dynamics, and find solutions that satisfy multiple ‘customers’ of the business.• Strong time management skills, evidenced by experience being accountable to multiple deliverables on staggered deadlines• Strong personal integrity and judgment, including a track record of managing highly sensitive or highly visible business matters• Strong communication skills in both formal and informal writing and speech• Demonstrated growth mindset and willingness to learn and accept feedback• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook• Ability to travel regularly in Market or as needed, up to 50%
Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a multi-unit manager• 1+ year of experience in CVS field role(s) and/or passion for our purpose• Pharmacist license
Education
• High School Diploma or General Equivalent Development (GED)• Bachelors, Master’s, or PharmD Degree preferred
