We currently seek an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to oversee projects in the compliance areas that support both our private and public sectors. The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of federal and Massachusetts environmental regulations (air, water, waste), environmental compliance audits, and environmental management systems. An understanding of general industry and construction safety regulations is also desired.

This position is located at our Marlborough, Massachusetts office.

Your Role:

  • Conduct environmental compliance audits and provide general compliance assistance on behalf of public and private client through interpretation of technical and regulatory information

  • Perform multi-media environmental compliance audits and facility inspections in diversified industries to evaluate the regulatory status of plant processes including air emissions, hazardous waste management, wastewater discharges, waste disposal practices, and OSHA training requirements

  • Prepare federal (EPCRA) and MassDEP (TURA, air source registrations) reports for industrial clients

  • Develop Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP)

  • Participate in identifying and pursuing opportunities in green and/or sustainability-related services.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, or related field

  • A minimum of 5 years of environmental compliance experience

  • Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Toxic Use Reduction Planner (TURP) a plus

  • Strong written and verbal skills

  • Technical knowledge should include air emissions inventories and permitting, hazardous waste and materials management and reporting, pollution control systems evaluation, wastewater and storm water permitting, flammables storage tank permits, and green services

  • An understanding of health and safety programs including general industry and construction safety regulations and performing HAZOPS for biotechnical and industrial clients a plus

  • Requires successful evaluation of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and maintaining a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech’s Vehicle Safety program
