Galvion CNC Machining Operator in Marlborough, Massachusetts

The CNC Machining Operator is responsible for operating a machining center that automatically loads plastic parts and assemblies and automatically machines part dimensions to meet final product specifications. This Operator position must be able to meet production schedules with quality parts, maintain tooling and machine operation, perform light maintenance on the CNC equipment and deliver parts to the next manufacturing step on-time.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Process:

  • Load raw materials into the CNC machine.

  • Select or input required program into the CNC controller.

  • Choose and load the correct cutting tools for the job.

  • Adjusting machine settings as required to the product specifications.

  • Troubleshoot issues during the loading and machining process.

  • Complete quality control tests and measurements as specified.

  • Clean and maintain the machining center per manufacturer's specifications.

  • Install machine tools and components per machining center instructions.

  • Take accurate measurements of parts to meet manufacturing requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

People:

  • Evaluate machining performance (dimensions, surface defects, etc.) and work with engineers to troubleshoot the manufacturing process as needed.

  • Maintain safety and 5S program for machining center area.

  • Train new staff on machine operation procedures as required.

  • Assist or direct others in performance of work, as needed.

Performance:

  • Ensure that all duties are performed in a timely manner consistent with applicable quality requirements, safety guidelines, and applicable procedures.

  • Set up automated machining center to perform machine functions on scheduled parts on time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC machining center operations experience.

  • 5+ years of experience using calipers, verniers, and other mechanical measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and dimensional specifications.

  • Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, specifically).

  • Position requires a person who is meticulous and quality conscious; motivated and creative problem solver.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Fast learner with excellent time management skills.

  • Possess creative problem solving skill with the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Must be adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities and testing schedules.

Work environment (include physical requirements)

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds required.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

  • Use of eye protection required.

  • Overtime will occasionally be required.
