GE Aerospace Value Stream Team Design Engineer - Cost Execution in Lynn, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

The Design Engineer is responsible for identifying, scoping/validating and execution of engineering activities to enable cost out opportunities. The execution of these projects have significant impact to customer and business financial goals both in the short-term and long-term.

In this role, the design engineer will be responsible for the execution of design changes on cost out projects. The individual will apply engineering concepts to design and manufacturing issues. The engineer will collaborate with cross functional engineering teams to substantiate and document changes as well as project management teams to prioritize cost projects for largest business impact. The design engineer will engage with colleagues and partners in manufacturing sites to refine engineering solutions.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. Includes the design and analysis of combustors and structures parts across all of Defensive Engines.

  • Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.

  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.

  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Collaborates with others to solve issues. Exchanges technical information asks questions and checks for understanding.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
