Job Description Summary

The Staff Engineer – Should Cost Process/Analytics Leader demonstrates accountability for functional and business objectives addressing product cost and producibility opportunities in all phases of the product's life cycle. This position will define and lead activities across Engineering and Supply Chain organizations to identify, develop, and integrate should cost/cost estimation strategies, analytics, and process improvements to meet business productivity objectives.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading activities with Supply Chain and Engineering to define and operationalize a process to utilize Should Costs/Cost Estimations for improved business productivity outcomes.

  • Effectively communicate project status and needs with Business leaders to ensure completion. Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge and analytical thinking to deliver value. Ensure high levels of accountability and operational excellence within the team. Actively works across organizations to identify and collaborate on cost estimation standards, processes, and methodologies.

  • Provides technical insight and guidance to Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Line partners including supporting productivity pipeline generation strategy and execution. Contributes lessons learned to GE Aerospace standards and policies. Contributes to cost analysis tool/method capability development and standards.

  • Conducts business level trades, influences design and Supply Chain decisions to optimize product cost within broader business constraints.

  • Uses Lean problem solving as a primary tool to solve business problems. Lead/participate in Kaizens/AWOs in relevant subject matter areas.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within a field.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Established project management and/or team leadership experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Position
