GE Aerospace HPC Mechanical Design Lead Engineer in Lynn, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

The HPC Mechanical Design Lead Engineer will have the opportunity to design High Pressure Compressor components for the newest, most technologically advanced military fighter jet engine in the world. You will design and integrate the airfoils and vanes and/or actuation systems. You will be responsible to demonstrate that your designs meet the requirements to the customer, and deliver robust solutions within functional area(s) of expertise. This lead engineer position also requires leadership and cross-functional collaboration of a multi-disciplinary team including materials, manufacturing, design, analysis, systems, and test. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of HPC design projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering across a range of HPC components.

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with peers and provide direction and mentoring to less-experienced team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical, Aero, or other engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience inMechanical or Aero Engineering

  • Capable of attaining a US security clearance

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
