Job Description Summary
The Engineer - Thermal Dynamics provides direction and assistance to work group to meet assigned objectives. In the role of Engineer - Thermal Dynamics, you will work on cooled turbine components contained within GE’s land and marine or LM product lines. You will be required to design, analyze, and support production of parts essential to turbine function. You will utilize heat transfer simulations and fluid mechanics where applicable to assist in engineering functions.
Roles and Responsibilities
Conceptual or theoretical activities relating to the science focused on the relations between heat and mechanical energy or work, and the conversion of one into the other: modern thermodynamics deals with the properties of systems for the description of which temperature is a necessary coordinate.Includes Heat transfer that is the science on the exchange of thermal energy between physical systems, depending on the temperature and pressure, by dissipating heat.
Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
Collaborates with others to solve issues. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to work independently
Strong problem-solving skills
Early adopter of change, adjusting to find faster, simpler approaches that are impactful
Ability to quickly learn & interact with various internal heat transfer computer tools
Ability to understand and write basic coding & scripts
