Rapid Micro Biosystems Program Manager in Lowell, Massachusetts

This position will be responsible for the management of programs related to standing up new facilities for Rapid Micro Biosystems. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and a proven ability to strategize and implement high-level program initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a natural-born leader capable of effective project coordination and delegation.

The primary scope of this role includes:

  • Project Scoping & Planning

  • General Project Management (forming project teams, budgeting, assigning & tracking tasks, identify & mitigating project risks, etc.)

  • Evaluating and Applying Regulatory Standards

  • Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Review of Design Inputs and Outputs

  • Working with suppliers to implement new designs


  • Primary responsibilities will be to effectively organize and lead cross-functional project teams using your project management skills.

  • Using your strong planning, organization, and collaboration skills, you will independently manage a diverse scope of projects with limited supervision.

  • These may include, but not limited to, projects aimed at enhancing product features & design to ensure customer satisfaction, addressing quality issues, maintaining ongoing manufacturing line support, reducing costs, and ensuring continued compliance to applicable regulations.

  • You will plan, monitor, and coordinate project tasks, as well as maintain and update project plans and schedules.

  • You will direct the activities of internal and external team members to meet project objectives.

  • An appropriate candidate must be a flexible, self-directed, organized, dependable, proactive, and persistent project leader.

  • He or she must effectively plan and manage projects, lead and coach project team members, solve problems, and make decisions with limited direction.

  • Prepare frequent reports for the executive leadership team and capable of working with program sponsors directly to make efficient and effective decisions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field

  • 5+ years in an advanced management role (preference to program management experience)

  • Experience working within a construction-based environment and with roles associated (e.g., architects, general managers, and contractors)

  • International work experience preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.) is a strong advantage.

  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
