The Supply Chain Production Planner will have responsibility for the supply chain production planning execution of the products manufactured within their Value Streams, including the processes which impact production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory management through all of the product life cycle phases to ensure demand and supply are aligned.
The role will involve a high degree of change management as they continue to balance the often conflicting goals of inventory reduction, delivery performance improvement, maximization of capacity usage, and production throughput lead time reduction during a time of significant transition within the production sites in an effort to deliver the optimal results for the business.
Responsible for the daily creation, maintenance, execution, attainment reporting, and issue escalation of production planning; capacity planning; issuance, prioritization, and control of production scheduling; inventory plan attainment; and related outside services to insure a controlled flow of approved inventory timed to meet production and demand requirements while balancing inventory, demand, and capacity plans in coordination with the Value Stream 5E Team.
Responsible for accuracy of ERP system data including planning parameters within the item master, work order completion dates, inventory plans, and product availability information used by management to communicate during times of supply shortage, warehouse operations for management of space requirements and pull system material flow processes throughout the site, and during critical discussions to evaluate the balance of supply and demand against the forecasted requirements.
Responsible for the escalation to upper management of potential impacts to production and coordination with local and central Supply Chain and Material Boards and Value Stream 5E Teams as needed to identify root cause of recurrent problems and support resolution to insure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
Collaborate with counterparts at sister sites to execute the interdependent requirements across multiple sites and ensure the system set ups and inventory plans are accurate to drive the necessary capacity and materials needed to consistently and accurately feed production per planned schedules in order to meet demand for regular pipeline and during site transfers.
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Purchasing headquarters teams in defining inventory plans for finished goods, subassemblies, and raw materials and the metrics with which to measure attainment to these plans and project when inventory will either exceed or fall short to the plan in order to take action to resolve the issue with minimal impact to customer order fulfilment or production schedules.
Work closely with the Operations Value Stream 5E Teams in supporting all activities to drive improvements in production lead times, efficiencies, and productivity, including developing high level understanding of the production processes, detailed understanding of the critical resources and their capacity constraints (people and equipment) that drive the throughput of the production floor, and the production scheduling groupings that drive the most efficient use of set ups, as well as all transfer projects between sites.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Upstream Marketing, R&D, and Customer Service teams in supporting all activities related to sales forecasts, new product development, product rationalization, component obsolescence, and prioritization of work on the floor and inventory allocation to orders in times of supply shortage.
Responsible for the accurate reporting of forecasted requirements for manufactured items to Operations Value Stream 5E Team in order to establish proper capacity planning for both labor and equipment, and proper production scheduling for order fulfilment.
Responsible for the accurate reporting of forecasted requirements for purchased items to Purchasing in order to establish proper purchasing volumes for supplier negotiations.
Support the Change Order and MRB Processes for all activities to minimize impacts to customer order fulfilment, inventory plan attainment, and production schedules.
All Other Essential Duties as directed.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management, or equivalent related business experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of three (3) years related experience in inventory and production planning and control.
Advanced experience and knowledge of ERP systems and fundamentals of MRP, Forecasting, Inventory, Production Shop Floor, and Capacity Planning is required.
Experience in medical device industry preferred.
Experience with GMP a plus.
Experience with lot and serial control traceability a plus.
APICS CPIM certification preferred.
Advanced proficiency of Oracle or SAP ERP system.
Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from direct labor employees on the production floor to senior management.
Strong project management administrative and implementation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills: adept at working independently or part of a team.
Ability to work within a matrix organization.
