Shire Senior Planner, Cell Banking in Lexington, Massachusetts

Primary Duties:

Responsible for ensuring continuity of supply for primarily mammalian cell banks across the network with a thorough understanding of internal supply and demand. Ensure that supply is in line with requirements and related safety stock targets.

Understand forecasted demand versus actual usage and related variances of cell banks across the internal manufacturing network to appropriately forecast re-supply triggers within the network.

Continuous monitoring/maintenance of safety stock levels, slow moving items and Inventory turn rate for internal and external cell banks.

Facilitate information flow between manufacturing sites and internal stakeholders (Cell bank Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain) on an operational level with regards to planning assumptions.

Lead related projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Reporting and analysis: 50%

a) Perform analysis/review tasks and subsequently execute corresponding actions for: standard reporting on current cell bank inventory, forward-looking demand and related forecast from a business and ERP perspective.

b) Understand network strategy on supply and ensure planning alignment.

b) Prepare forecasts for GSP and stakeholders and contribute to Master Production Schedule process.

c) Support process improvement initiatives for both process logic and process performance topics.

d) In case of product supply shortages, develop and communicate transparent and up to date supply plans to internal stakeholders. Monitor execution of agreed plans, measure performance and solve and communicate any deviations from agreed plans.

ERP % System Interface: 20%

a) Validate ERP Integrity: Ensure ERP alignment (SAP/JDE) for forward looking forecast and backward looking transactions related to consumption. Address & escalate system gaps when necessary with respective transactional owners.

b) Ensure system alignment with applicable planning assumptions (non-BOM related demand, scrap rates, etc.)

c) Understand QA release activities in order to understand released inventory and support ongoing operations

d) Support on decisions regarding buildup of strategic inventory (internal & external)

Cell bank life cycle: 15%

a) Liase with clinical leads to ensure alignment with related program pathforward and ample cell bank inventory for related program.

b) Manage dossier/repository of cell banks related to discontinued programs, understanding location and pathforward as determined by applicable business leads.

c) Own Quality systems related to transportation of cell banks into the Lexington site and lead process to release banks to the network.

Project Management 10%

a) Lead/Participate on materials management projects as assigned by manager

Administrative tasks: 5%

a) Training for self.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Essential:

B.A./B.S.

Minimum 4-7 years professional experience in supply chain management or procurement in the bio-pharmaceutical industry or a a federally requlated industry.

Corresponding experience with an automated ERP business system (SAP preferred)

Project management skills

Desired:

B.A./B.S. in a technical discipline, Business Administration, or Supply Chain

APICS or PMAB certification

Greater than 5 years professional experience in supply chain management or procurement in the bio-pharmaceutical industry

Extensive experience with SAP ERP

Additional experience in Materials Management, Disposition/Planning and Cost Accounting is preferred.
