The Advanced Technology Division performs research and development on component and subsystem-level technologies which can enable new approaches to DoD systems, and which advance the state-of-the-art for U.S. industry. Division 8 - CO-OP Student
The Advanced Technology Division is seeking an Information Technology CO-OP student to assist in the operation and maintenance of the desktop and laboratory computer systems, and servers.
Position Description: This position will involve the following tasks: • Assist the existing IT team in supporting approximately 425 users, and over 1,000 end points • Perform operating system installations, troubleshooting, and patching for Windows 10/7, Windows Server 2012/2016, Mac OS, RedHat, and Ubuntu • Assist in upgrading existing Windows 7 systems to Windows 10 • Assist staff members in troubleshooting hardware, software and network problems • Assist in developing our growing network infrastructure • Work on existing projects, and help develop new projects aimed at improving the divisions computing environment • Work with centralized IT support to provide solutions to group members while communicating with IT lead
Technology Exposure: A qualified CO-OP can expect to interact with the following IT environments: • Virtual environments • Vulnerability remediation using Nessus • Desktop imaging via MDT • Implementation of technical controls required for federal DFARS compliance
Education: • High School Graduate, and at least one year of a college IT/Computer Science related program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Experience: • At least one year of direct related experience on PCs, workstations, and telecommunications equipment • Must be knowledgeable with various operating systems
Skills: • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently or on a team • Familiarity with Windows 10/7 Windows Server 2012/2016, Mac OS, LINUX • Familiarity with Microsoft application software, as well as other application software and should have a basic understanding of computer networking
