Solidus Technical Solutions, Inc. Dev Ops Engineer - 3582 in Lexington, Massachusetts

Solidus is searching for a Software Engineer to architect, establish, and maintain software engineering infrastructure supporting autonomous systems development efforts.

The successful candidate will join a group that develops software and algorithms enabling unmanned air, ground, and maritime vehicles to operate in complex environments with reduced levels of human control and supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Domains: Software development infrastructure; DevOps; continuous integration and testing; automation; unit testing; packaging; infrastructure as code; release engineering; virtualization and containerization; simulation-in-the-loop; robotics.

  • Own (architect, design, build, and manage) a platform of systems and tools facilitating effective, high quality, and distributed development of robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems software and algorithms. Platform components include continuous integration and test, simulation-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, software packaging, virtual and container-based deployment.

  • Work with robotics developers and project management to analyze recurring software engineering challenges, identify opportunities for process improvements, and create plans to realize solutions.

  • Produce documentation and tutorials supporting developer on-ramping and use of best practices

Considering candidates at the following levels:

  • PhD plus 5 years minimum experience, or MS plus 8 years minimum experience.

  • MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience.

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

  • Experience architecting, designing, and implementing software development infrastructure with significant responsibility for the success of the DevOps platform

  • Ability to effectively communicate the elements and attributes of a design, approach, or decision at a high-level in written, verbal, and presentation formats

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative small-team environment

  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of established and emerging automated build, continuous integration and test, infrastructure as code, deployment, and other SDLC tools

  • In-depth experience using and customizing the Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) and the Jenkins automation server

  • Strong experience with compiled / systems software development in the Linux operating system. Proficient with Linux system administration.

  • Software skills required: Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building DevOps solutions for embedded, robotic, or autonomous systems

  • Experience with the Government’s DI2E Developer Collaboration Tools

  • Knowledge of software quality assurance tools and techniques such as static code analysis and fuzz testing

  • Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS) and ROS Version 2 (ROS2) build systems (catkin, ament, colcon)

  • Experience integrating visual or physics-based software simulation systems, such as Gazebo, Unity3D, AirSim, or OpenAI Gym, with continuous integration and test frameworks

  • Knowledge of cyber security considerations relevant to DevOps

  • Experience building systems on commercial cloud providers with AWS GovCloud preferred

  • Familiarity with agile development practices

  • Proficiency with automation tools for provisioning and configuration, such as Ansible

  • Software skills (preferred): ROS, Github, CMake, gcc, Python, Ansible, Docker
