MIT Lincoln Laboratory Assistant Staff - Engineering in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Advanced Satcom Systems and Operations Group focuses on the research and development of future state-of-the-art wireless communication systems including satellite communications, line-of-sight communications, and optical free-space communications. The group's activities encompass the design of new algorithms, protocols, concepts, systems, and architectures, the development of rapid HW/SW prototypes and testbeds, and verification through field experiments and operational demonstrations.

The Communications Systems Engineer will actively participate in the design, analysis, and implementation of novel waveforms, digital signal processing algorithms, dynamic resource allocation schemes, and/or advanced networking protocols. The individual will typically work in multi-disciplinary teams in which team members possess expertise in communications theory, networking, information assurance, systems engineering, RF, digital HW, and SW. The individual will have opportunities to work with the government, academia, and industry as well as make contributions towards DoD policy, requirements, acquisition, systems engineering, and operations.


Education Requirements:

Required: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a strong background in wireless communications and signal processing. Preferred: Bachelors Degree with 3-5 years of directly relevant experience.

Position Requirements:

Experience and/or coursework includes communication theory, error-control coding, digital signal processing, radio frequency (RF) propagation modeling, optical communications, medium access control protocols, and networking. Familiarity with MATLAB or equivalent analysis/modeling and simulation tools is required.
