SencorpWhite Machinist/CNC Lathe Operator in Hyannis, Massachusetts

Summary: Possesses the skills to set up, adjust and operate cnc & manual lathes as well as mills and particular types of machine tools. Can perform diversified machining operations, having tolerance and finish specifications requiring a general knowledge of machining practices and techniques. Responsibilities: Works from drawings, sketches, and specifications in completing various machining operations. Performs machine setups to obtain close tolerances, fitting, and alignment of machined parts. .Must be proficient in setting up CNC lathes Loading and editing programs. Use of Gibbs Cam preferred but not required Proficient using FANUC controls Makes jigs, fixtures, or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned. Acquires raw material, supplies, tools, etc., when necessary. Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion and conforms to all quality procedures and safety and human performance standards. Performs first piece inspections on an essential product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned. Troubleshoots drawings, machining, tooling, material, etc. and makes competent decisions pertaining to the job at hand. Operates machinery/equipment in a safe manner. Utilizes Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print. Ensures proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to the material and equipment. Detects errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks. Ability to read scales, tape measure, calipers, and gauges Responsible for own level of production. May provide some training to others. Performs hand tools, files, deburring tools, sanders and polishing tools. May work with hoists and overhead crane. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience. Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to perform the job. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Manual dexterity sufficient to effectively use various hand tools and welding equipment. Visual acuity to interact with computer terminal, mechanical design prints and written instructions. Communication skills to interact with others. Tolerance to eye and upper/lower body stress associated with extended periods working with machinery and standing/walking. Regular lifting of up to 35 lbs. (e.g., machine parts), lifting apparatus to be used for items 35+ lbs. Routine machine shop environment on ground floor. Maintains and monitors machine shop equipment. Safeguards against improper use and incorrect set ups to prevent damage to machinery or injury to personnel. Monday - Thursday 6:00 AM thru 4:30 PM Overtime may be required
