Dell Platform Electrical or Computer Engineer in Hopkinton, Massachusetts

Dell EMC Platform Hardware Engineering (PHE) is looking for an ambitious upcoming or recent college grad to design and support storage hardware. PHE is responsible for delivering Hardware Platforms to the global Dell EMC product teams which occupies the #1 position in market share for both Servers and Storage.

In this position you will develop leading edge hardware solutions to be integrated into common platform designs, debugging complex problems and developing creative solutions. Technologies include high speed serial storage interfaces, Protocol ASICs, FPGAs, standard logic, power circuits and high speed PCB layout.

You will be exposed to all aspects of systems engineering working closely with firmware, mechanical, power and thermal engineers. In this role, you will work in a fast paced environment with a team of highly skilled Engineers to provide you both guidance and leadership in this role.


Develop technical project requirements, including cost, performance, reliability, and quality.

Collaborate with organizations throughout EMC to facilitate product integration, delivery and support.

Participate in cross-functional design reviews

Lead physical design of circuit board through all design phases

Track and resolve technical issues and requests for information

Develop proficiency in the subject of Signal Integrity

Support manufacturing qualification process to ensure delivery of a high quality product.

Develop test scripts to increase group efficiency

Coordinate with IO Protocol solution vendors on technical requirements of current and future design projects


Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering

Prior experience in the design, debug, and qualification of board level hardware

Excellent communication and technical skills

Strong sense of urgency and teamwork

Ability to learn new designs quickly and independently

Ability to work well both alone or in small teams

High speed design experience (> 1Gbps) a plus

Experience with various I/O protocols, such as PCIe, SAS, SATA and Ethernet a plus

Direct experience with x86 or ARM computer architectures and chipsets, is a plus

Knowledge of server and storage systems, particularly RAID systems, is a plus


BSEE is a must
