The Dell EMC Core Hardware Engineering team is looking for an individual with a diverse technical background to fill a full- time power hardware engineer 2 position within the organization. This candidate will work with a team of engineers to fulfill a variety of tasks as needed. The position reports to an individual manager but the task assignments stem from numerous sources. This candidate is expected to be very dependable and eager to learn. The successful candidate should possess most of the basic skills outlined below.

What you’ll achieve

As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for providing solutions to a variety of problems of certain scope and complexity by following standard engineering practices and using judgment within defined practices and procedures. You will build, test and modify hardware product prototypes, and determine power requirements. You will also plan, organizes and conduct technical projects within new or

enhanced hardware products or systems.

You will:

Software Scripting for control & monitoring of power electronic test equipment

Firmware development for evaluating specification compliance of power electronic prototypes, such as AC-DC Power Supplies, DC-DC circuitry and Batteries

Setting up and running tests on power electronic prototypes within the power engineering lab

Documenting test set-ups and test results

Drafting and maintaining documentation of power electronic products

Work independently to complete tasks and participate as a member of our globally distributed engineering team

Working in an engineering lab environment which occasionally requires lifting test equipment or text fixtures up to 50 pounds in weight

Essential Requirements

Familiar with basic circuit analysis and design practices, at the discrete and integrated circuit level

Experience with using and aptitude for programming embedded micro-controllers, such as Microchip PIC or Freescale 8-bit MCU’s

Aptitude with Microsoft Office tools such as MS Word and Excel

Electronics assembly skills. Can follow basic assembly instructions, including soldering of small electrical components and reading schematics

Electronics test and measurement skills. Fluent with basic instruments, including DVM’s and oscilloscopes

Understanding of basic engineering documentation practices and drawing creation

Desirable Requirements

Software & Programming skills: Python, C, Labview, JIRA, PSPICE

Mechanical assembly skills. Can follow basic assembly instructions and reading of mechanical drawings

Familiarity with electro-mechanical design principles

Understanding of basic engineering documentation practices and drawing creation

Very strong oral and written communication skills

Problem solving skills

Strong teamwork skills

Understand requirements, suggest improvements to specified solutions when possible.

High energy team player with desire to acquire news skills, implement new technologies while maintaining stable tool environments

Ability to multi-task

Sense of urgency
