OneHolyoke CDC Community Engagement Specialist in Holyoke, Massachusetts

OneHolyoke Community Development Corporation and Local Initiatives Support Corporation are seeking a full-time AmeriCorps member to serve as a Community Engagement Specialist. We are recruiting a full-time AmeriCorps member to be a part of our team for 10 months YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN AMERICORPS MEMBER The member is expected to undertake the following activities toward goal achievement: The Community Engagement Specialist position offers the AmeriCorps member candidate an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Director of Community Engagement and Resident Services. This person will serve to develop and implement new community engagement efforts with the Director that align with OneHolyoke CDC?s mission. The Community Engagement Department is currently building a Strategic Plan that will increase services in health, civics, education and public safety to support families in Holyoke. The AmeriCorps member will work to initiate, build, and strengthen relationships with OneHolyoke CDC and community partners such as school district administrators, local teachers and students, and other cultural organizations in the region. The member will also be engaged in programming public health related to COVID 19 vaccine access; literacy efforts to encourage youth reading; safety and justice community needs; and economic mobility for residents. The member will coordinate the OneHolyoke volunteer database In performing these activities, OneHolyoke Community Development Corporation and LISC AmeriCorps anticipate that the person in this position will achieve the following goal(s): ? Engage 40 new (episodic) volunteers to provide 880 volunteer hours to community based projects ? Engage 40 existing (recurring) volunteers to provide 880 volunteer hours to community based projects In order to meet the goal, the successful candidate will be provided with a work-plan at the onset of service and training needed to achieve the goal. Progress toward goal attainment will be measured monthly through an on line system and training will be provided. This is an AmeriCorps position and as such, the member may not engage in prohibited activities as part of his/her/their service. The member will have an immediate supervisor at OneHolyoke Community Development Corporation and a LISC point of contact throughout the term of service for coaching, mentoring, and training support in order to undertake activities to achieve a community goal. SKILLS NEEDED ? Desire and ability to work with a diverse group of people, particularly those living in low-income distressed neighborhoods ? Ability to work independently and in a team environment ? Computer skills ? Good written and oral communication skills ? Ability to work a flexible schedule (some night and weekends may be required) ? Multilingual and -cultural PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS To be eligible to participate as a LISC AmeriCorps member the candidate: (1) must not have previously resigned from a LISC AmeriCorps position; (2) be able to earn at least 74% of the education award for this position; and (3) if having previously served, been exited with satisfactory service from a prior term.
