Stanley Black and Decker Group Leader - Drawer Fabrication - 1st Shift in Holliston, Massachusetts

Responsibilities:

Participates in and actively supports corporate programs and initiatives; understands, supports and upholds Company policies and procedures. Manages the daily operation of the shift under direction from the Supervisor, maintaining LISTA's quality and safety standards. Directs employees in a variety of duties to complete the manufacture of products, working from customer orders, blue prints, verbal and written instructions. Uses judgement to plan, perform, make decisions and improvements as to the sequence of operations and processes in coordination with other departments. Guides employees in the department, distributes work schedule to employees, advises on policies, elevates employee problems, and conducts department meetings. Ensures that the department and equipment is being operated and maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition, in accordance with safety procedures. Manages and performs work within the department as needed to meet business needs. Ability to organize and coordinate tasks; inspect, estimate, interpret and use judgement. Wears and ensures proper PPE is supplied to employees and worn appropriately at all times. Ensures equipment and machinery is working properly and safely notifies maintenance with issues. Ability to work with Detail Fabrication to get MRP/Kanban parts punched. Collaborates with other Dept Leads/Supervisors to coordinate daily production needs. Performs or assists with preventive maintenance of equipment. Performs other duties as required or directed.

Knowledge and Skills:

High school education or equivalent preferred Requires 1-2 year’s experience in a related job; 3-5 years in similar metal fabrication environment preferred Significant knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes such as punching, bending and resistance welding Solid mechanical ability and prior machine operator experience Working knowledge of Kanban system Must be able to drive fork truck throughout plant Must be able to make sound, fair, and consistent decisions regarding department operations Must be able to read and interpret blue prints which are in English and operate basic measuring instruments Ability to use hand, air, and electric powered tools and drive material moving equipment Ability to lead employees in a fair and consistent manner Ability to set up machine and tooling for employees Working knowledge of tooling and fixtures within equipment Working knowledge of the Peer (drawer welding machine) / Back Line Good communication skills

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate clearly in English as it pertains to the job

  • Ability to perform basic math calculations

  • Must be able to continuously walk/stand 4 – 12 hours daily

  • Must be able to perform frequent lifting up to 33 lbs independently and more with assistance

  • Must be able to frequently push/pull product on carts, racks, pallets and shelves

  • Must be able to work in a plant with seasonal fluctuations of indoor climate (heat)

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed including weekdays and weekends.
