Store Associate at an Antiques Store **Job Description** We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Store Associate to join our team at The Emporium. As an integral part of our team, you will help in managing the daily operations of the store, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining an inviting store environment. **Responsibilities**: 1. **Customer Service** - Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner. - Offer detailed information and advice on antique items. - Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues with a positive attitude. 2. **Sales and Merchandising** - Conduct sales transactions accurately and efficiently. - Help in merchandising items in a visually appealing manner. - Manage inventory, including receiving, displaying, and pricing items. 3. **Research and Appraisal** - Research various antiques to understand their history, value, and authenticity. - Assist in the appraisal and purchasing of antique items. 4. **Store Maintenance** - Ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-maintained. - Assist with the setup of displays and special exhibits. 5. **Marketing and Online Presence** - Contribute to the store\'s online presence, including managing listings on online marketplaces and social media platforms. - Assist in developing promotional materials and marketing strategies. **Skills and Qualifications** - Passion for antiques, history, and art. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to research and appraise diverse antique items. - Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices. - Proficiency in handling cash registers and sales transaction software. - Attention to detail and organization skills. - Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods. **Computer Skills** - Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and transaction processing. - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). - Experience with online marketplaces (e.g., eBay, Etsy) and social media platforms. **Education** - High school diploma or equivalent; further education or a degree in a related field (such as Art History, Museum Studies, or History) is a plus. - Additional certification in antique appraisal or a related field is desirable but not required.
