Opportunity Overview

North Shore Community Health (NSCH) is an industry leader in exceptional delivery of community healthcare. We have a full-time opening for a Patient Service Representatives (Front Desk) for our Gloucester Family Health Center. The PSR, reporting to the Site Supervisor, in a very busy office, will accurately perform activities related to the smooth functioning of the Front Desk team. As a team member at our health center, you will work with staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required. A sense of humor is also very important!

Responsibilities

  • Provides outstanding customer service, both to internal and external customers

  • Greet patients over the phone/and in person in a friendly and professional manner and providing them with the information and/or services needed

  • Answer multiple calls simultaneously providing assistance with making or rescheduling appointments, directing calls to other staff, and taking accurate and detailed messages to ensure that callers receive the information they need

  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information

  • Maintain an organized and clean work areas and waiting room

  • Provides translation services as needed

  • Contacts patients as needed, via letter, telephone or patient portal

  • Schedules patients as needed

  • Adhering to HIPAA rules including maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

  • Copies and faxes documents as needed

  • Performing additional duties to fulfill NSCH's mission, as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ of customer service experience preferably in a medical setting or office environment

  • English and Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.

  • Demonstrated work history of reliability, good attendance and positive attitude

  • Detail-oriented and thorough

  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies; phone system, GE Centricity for medical appointments, Dentrix for dental appointments

  • Warm and professional telephone manner; good memory and patience

  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up to complete tasks

  • Ability to be courteous, efficient, effective, and patient in a fast paced environment

  • Maintain strict adherence to the NSCH Confidentiality policy

  • Incorporate NSCH Mission and Values into daily activities

  • Comply with all NSCH personnel policies and procedures

  • Willingness to be flexible about work assignments

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Competency in working with Microsoft Office Suite and GE Centricity is a plus.

  • Completion of NSCH required Compliance Training before the deadline.
