GPC - Genuine Parts Company Technical Product Specialist in FRANKLIN, Massachusetts

Motion is seeking an Technical Product Specialist to join our sales team based out of our Franklin, MA location. This is an opportunity to showcase your strong business development skills while applying technical aptitude. Sales activities will be both in conjunction with Account Managers and also on an individual basis. Product support is required in both pre and post sales situations and for both internal and external customers.   • Provide comprehensive technical engineering support for products and their applications by telephone, web, or on-site assistance

  • Research customer technical specifications and generate bill of materials for modifying, configuring, and installing products or solutions

  • Design custom solutions in accordance with customer specifications integrating multiple manufacturers' products, as well as offer additional product and solution recommendations in an effort to increase sales

  • Deliver presentations and product demonstrations to customers and sales representatives for promotions and training purposes

  • Collaborate with internal resources (customer service, outside sales, engineering, etc.) to identify and pursue business development opportunities to increase sales and promote the Engineering Solutions Group

  • Actively promote manufacturers' products, solutions, and processes within target markets, which may include utilizing manufacturer-provided information to develop marketing materials such as flyers, presentations, and product demonstrations

  • May develop new solutions ideas and offerings to actively pursue business development and sales opportunities, which involves identifying target customers and products, creating corresponding promotional materials, developing sales plans and strategies, and tracking performance

  • May possess some capability for the installation component of product/service solutions and develop prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of product solutions

  • May have a continuing role in customer support to address and resolve customers' issues in product usage

  • May resolve/troubleshoot implementation problems and conduct initial user training


  • Bachelors degree. Engineering major preferred

    Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years in an Engineering or technical sales role

  • 3-5 years Industrial automation experience preferred, but not required
