MKS Instruments Inc Business Unit/General Manager in Franklin, Massachusetts
Spectra-Physics, Ophir, Newport and ESI are brands within the MKS Instruments Photonics Solutions division. We provide a full range of solutions including lasers for precision industrial and scientific research applications, laser and LED measurement, beam profiling, precision motion control, optical tables and vibration isolation systems, photonics instruments, temperature sensing, opto-mechanical components, optical elements, and systems for flexible PCB laser processing, high-speed MLCC testing, and CO2-laser-based systems HDI PCB and IC substrate manufacturing. MKS Photonics Solutions enhance our customers’ capabilities and productivity in the semiconductor, advanced electronics and specialty industrial markets.
We have an excellent opportunity for someone like you to join our innovative leadership team as site leader for our Rochester, NY and Franklin, MA facilities. As General Manager, you will report to the Vice President and General Manager of the Optical Solutions Business. What makes this role exciting is that you will be vital to the success of the team and the business. You will accomplish this success through financial performance, business and technical interface to key OEM customers, repeat OEM design wins and/or product life cycle management, sustained engineering and product management as well as quality, reliability and customer satisfaction.
What you will do is:
Set and implement the overall business strategy, with the objective of improving both market share and profitability. This includes meeting corporate objectives for profitability and growth and responsibility for the Optical Components Business P&L
Own Optical Components product lines, including filters, gratings and mirrors
Lead the Business Unit consisting of Product Management, Business Development, Design and Engineering to support legacy products and to develop new solutions, and partner with Operations to transfer products to production
Meet & exceed customer expectations for product performance, including quality and reliability, logistic, technology, costs and sustainability
Meet & exceed customer expectations for continual reduction in cost of ownership
Maintain exceptional knowledge of customer needs, which in some cases requires diligent relationships with OEM equipment design authorities
What you will bring to the role and to our team are the following qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required, but an advanced technical degree and/or MBA is desirable
15+ years of experience with optical component manufacturing and/or optical design, engineering and manufacturing
5+ years of P&L responsibility
Exceptional leadership and communications skills; extensive experience interacting with customers and within cross-functional or matrix organizations
Travel approximately 15%-20% including international
Position located in either Rochester, NY or Franklin, MA.
Salary Pay Range: $168,000. TO $312,000. per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
