As a Sr Merchandise Specialist this position is an integral component of Staples merchandising team supporting the Category Merchant(s). Staples Shipping and Business Services provides key services to both our small business and consumer customers within our Retail stores and online. Responsible for delivering budgeted metrics to drive profitability for the company, while offering a unique and needed services assortment to customers. This role will be expected to work cross-functionally with home office and field associates to support the daily needs of Staples stores. This position is also responsible for data analysis to drive business optimization and decisions. Candidate must be willing to work a hybrid model.

Key Deliverables:

  • Support Category Merchant(s) in all aspects of the role

  • Create and maintain promotions and promotional calendar

  • Collect and organize service information from vendors

  • Communicate and compile feedback from field teams

  • Work closely with operations and other internal teams to launch new programs

  • Weekly category reporting on trends and ad hoc reports and analysis, as needed

  • Review competitors store and online experiences for new service ideas, notable promotions, and pricing discrepancies

  • Conduct market research, gather industry data, track trends, themes, competitive shopping to assist with service assortment

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel skills

  • Work independently/cross functionally with many teams both internally/externally

  • Attention to detail, proactive personality, organized, ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work independently and execute across multiple groups

  • Good verbal and written communication skills necessary

  • Leadership mentality

  • Strong financial acumen

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Merchandising Experience

  • Retail Store experience a plus

  • Negotiation experience
