Position Summary

The Sr. Product Manager – Membership will join a growing Global eCommerce team tasked with planning and managing the Staples Advantage and eCommerce site of the future. The vision for this team is to bring world-class eCommerce knowledge, understand business problems and opportunities and recommend solutions to improve the customer journey for and Staples Business Advantage customers. The Sr. Product Manager – Membership will be responsible for defining a world-class and innovative customer experience and driving the strategic roadmap for Staples Advantage and programs, with a particular focus on Membership digital acquisition, engagement, and customer lifecycle. The position holder will do this by leveraging his/her strong understanding of ecommerce technologies and trends, listening to customer feedback, benchmarking against other B2B leading sites, understanding stakeholder priorities, addressing un-met customer needs, and seizing market opportunities to define exceptional online solutions. Given the highly strategic and cross-channel nature of this role, the successful individual must possess a unique combination of structured strategic thinking, passion and curiosity for technology & user experience, as well as strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain eCommerce strategic plans for Staples Advantage and products, solutions & services.

  • Develop the near, mid and long term holistic strategy with a strong focus on Mid-Market needs and requirements.

  • Manage a team of product managers who are instrumental in day to day execution of product enhancements

  • Ensure the alignment of product roadmap to business goals

  • Prioritize business requests and drive execution of product roadmap and backlog items

  • Use business modeling techniques: process workflow modeling, use cases, user stories, and personas to define business problems and help ideation. Drive and help manage Agile Scrum project teams and utilize Jira to define the requirements and user stories.

Drive execution of online strategies and capabilities, including:

  • Collaborating with a broad group of stakeholders, including Marketing, Strategy, Business & Sales Operations, UX, Pricing, Merchandising, Customer Care, Engineering and other Product teams to ensure roadmaps are aligned across domains and business units.

  • Provide input to project plans, risk assessment, and project schedules for cross functional teams and domains.

  • Facilitating cross functional, cross channel team meetings to drive strategy creation to multi-phase, multi-year program execution.

  • Work as Product owner among internal and external stakeholders to analyze, communicate, and understand business and usability requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree 8-10 years of online product management, ecommerce and/or information technology experience

  • Solid analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making

  • Experience with both Agile and Scrum from a Product owner perspective


  • Demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with business and technical teams to deliver results.

  • Experience leading and executing Agile / Scrum processes and managing direct reports

  • Understand and gather complex business needs and requirements from a diverse set of stakeholders and document them.

  • Knowledge of B2B ecommerce, industry trends, and technologies

  • Customer-centric orientation with proven track-record of developing and acting on customer insights.
