Staples Senior Manager, Inclusion and Diversity in Framingham, Massachusetts

Summary

The Senior Manager role is responsible for managing key Staples Inclusion, Diversity strategy workstreams. Reporting directly to the Director of Inclusion and Diversity, this Senior Manager will organize and lead key strategic initiatives, acting as a liaison to the business, providing resources and direction to ensure Staples reaches its intended I&D goals.

The Senior Manager will also be expected to help coach and guide other team members and act as the team lead in absence of the Director. The person in this position will lead the most critical workstreams of the I&D Strategy. They must be reliable, punctual, and exhibit great organizational skills. They will be expected to work within a matrix structure and achieve objectives by leveraging and collaborating with resources inside and outside their function and HR.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Further evolve Staples Inclusion & Diversity strategy design, stakeholder review and execution – regularly create an informed view of the current gaps and needs of the various business units, educate leaders on the challenges and develop solutions

  • Create a short and long-term plan focused on broadening the organizational view of inclusion & diversity and help the organization measure and embrace the concept of inclusion

  • Research inclusion & diversity best practices and develop metrics, monitoring and reporting systems to effectively benchmark Staples efforts against best in class organizations

  • Ensure alignment with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Office of Inclusion and Diversity

  • Maintain and update I&D Resource page, updating content, providing new content, etc.

  • Manage I&D Council meetings and project check-ins.

  • Collaborate with Workplace Relations Program Manager to ensure aligned efforts to cultivate a culture of inclusion

  • Manage external partnerships/events, networking relationships and contractual agreements with diverse organizations

  • Represent Staples at external diversity-related events

  • Act as I&D subject matter expert and liaison to other COEs, HRBPs and the business

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience

  • BA/BS minimum

  • 7+ years in business, people management or project management

  • Passion for diversity and inclusion; strong understanding and appreciation for all forms of diversity

  • Strong relationship building skills: able to develop “trusted advisor” status at senior management + levels to impact and influence decisions and effective actions

  • Able to bring awareness to business units around the competitive benefits of having inclusive and diverse teams – bring the business case to life for everyone

  • Able to work collaboratively and proactively, while balancing a variety of priorities

  • Open and honest interpersonal style coupled with self-motivation and strategic thinking skills

  • Demonstrated success partnering with key stakeholders

  • Experience in change management a plus
