The procurement function aims at enabling the Sanofi strategy by leveraging the supplier markets and delivering added value throughout operations performed within Central, Global, and Regional pillars of its organization.
To boost procurement efficiency and performance, the Procurement organization fosters the right level of globalization through a category management oriented operating model leveraging the management of resources through competencies, localization, internal mobility and talent development.
This position supports the local Scientific and Medical procurement organization. The Buyer aims to analyse, develop and challenge all aspects of new and ongoing R&D outsourcing/in-sourcing of scientific supplies & suppliers for R&D, Medical and Industrial Affairs in their assigned areas. The position works closely with the Sanofi business partners to assess and manage all sourcing needs in support of all scientific & medical aspects.
Develops and shares with GLB (global lead buyer) and customers his/hers supplier markets expertise
Depending on the nature of spend, builds a strong relationship with his/her customers and main suppliers in collaboration with the GLB (Global Lead Buyers)
Anticipates and consolidates all business needs to carry out the negotiations at local level when needed
Implements and ensures alignment with the global strategy defined by Management and the GLB at the project level
Work closely with the CPH (Country Procurement Head) and GLB to align the strategy with the specificity of the business strategy
Manage, source and support the lab. animal, bedding, food and outsourced support services for the related spend categories, locally and regionally
Apply the best strategies for specific project(s) and/or critical purchasing activities in compliance with approved vendors.
Performs updating to all related Procurement sites Sievo and ECatagory as directed.
Run EPilot spend analytics as required
Lead and conduct RFP process with procurement and business partner support
Administers procurement activities, including selecting sources of supply, approving purchase orders, managing relationships with suppliers/negotiating terms of contracts while ensuring compliance to standards.
Negotiates and challenges suppliers to be as cost effective as possible, ensure minimal risk to the company while reducing overall cost to the company
Ensures the procurement of company materials and supplies, services and investments at the best market conditions for his/her perimeter
Responsible for evaluating alternative solutions suggested by new suppliers aimed at the improvement of procurement.
Manage specific project(s) and/or critical activities related to the procurement function.
Ensure appropriate reporting/documentation inspection readiness, compliance and procurement performance
Ensure local implementation and compliance to Global Pricing Agreements
Negotiate one-off purchases to achieve savings targets
Establish and maintain a process for reallocation and disposal of unused equipment
Ensure the successful management of all related vivarium support activities across North America.
Context of the job/major challenges
This position will allow for improved business partnering with the research& medical platforms which is aligned and requested from the business. This position would be supporting the elevation of the Scientific & Medical Procurement, to ensure across our multiple sites that we have an improved and value generating process with key suppliers. Lead local sourcing & outsourcing projects from budget to contract steps and execution. Management of Scientific & Medical activities thru the complete life cycle process. Support /develop strategies development in close collaboration with Scientific & Medical Global Lead Buyers (GLBs) and business partners. Monitor the performance of the execution of the strategy throughout the network and manage key supplier relationships for his/her regular perimeter.

Requirements for Education / Experience
BS/BA or international university degree required, graduate studies (e.g. MS/MBA) preferred, Degree in science or business (preferred).
Purchasing certification or school (desirable)
Minimal 8 year experience in a purchasing/sourcing/alliance organization or other direct relevant pharmaceutical or healthcare field experience in Research, Discovery, Supply Chain, Clinical, Manufacturing or Quality Control units
