Sanofi Group Principal Research Associate in Framingham, Massachusetts
This position resides within the BioProcess Analytics group which is part of the Global CMC Development organization at Sanofi, Framingham, MA. The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high throughput analytical support to a strong pipeline of R&D programs within Sanofi during early and late stage process development.
We are looking for a skilled, highly motivated individual with expertise in biology/chemistry/biochemistry who works well in a team-setting to meet project and development goals within established timelines. The Principal Research Associate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on high throughput testing of analytical methods for R&D programs within Sanofi. Primary activities will include assay execution as well as development, optimization and troubleshooting of the methods and instrumentation to advance BioProcess Analytics’ support capabilities. The ideal candidate is required to have significant industry experience with analysis and characterization of biologic therapeutic protein products using a variety of analytical methods and capable of mentoring more junior members of the team.
Provide high throughout analytical testing support in a variety of testing platforms, in a non-GMP setting, supporting R&D Biologics Development including HPLC/UPLC, cIEF, CE-SDS, and binding assays including HCP ELISA as well as other novel techniques.
Support evaluation and development of technologies and analytical method platforms mentioned with a focus on increasing BioProcess Analytics testing capabilities.
Manage work assignments, analyze and interpret test results, and conduct necessary troubleshooting under the supervision of the manager.
Write technical reports, study protocols, and results and effectively communicate progress and results with the team.
Provide training and lab supervision of junior analysts and additional operators in analytical method execution, data interpretation and documentation.
Maintain good communication and collaboration with internal colleagues.
Master’s degree in Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
Hands-on experience in protein analytics including but not limited to UPLC/HPLC, LC-MS, cIEF, CE-SDS and ELISA-based immunoassays.
Hands-on experience in data processing software such as Empower or OpenLab for chromatographic based assays as well as SoftMax for plate-based assays.
Knowledge of GxPs, ICH/USP guidelines, regulations and procedure.
Experience working independently with multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
Well-organized, strong scientific curiosity, self-motivated, hard-working and detail-oriented individual able to work successfully in both a team/matrix environment as well as independently.
Industrial experience working in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company with a sound understanding of protein therapeutic process development.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong technical background in UPLC/HPLC, CE-SDS and/or cIEF.
Assay development and qualification in a non-GMP setting.
Experience in automated liquid handler a plus.
Experience automating data analysis.
