Staples Category Manager - Print & Marketing Services in Framingham, Massachusetts
Staples is investing within Print and Marketing Services with a goal of becoming a destination for all printing, shipping, and business services needs.
This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies for driving sales, margin and competitive differentiation for wide format and custom print product categories for the US Retail Channel and owning all go to market strategies for Staples online printing platforms. This role will focus on maximizing EBITA for critical categories within Staples portfolio. The ideal candidate would have a natural curiosity and basic understanding of print production, competitive landscape, and proven success driving results within a highly complex business.
Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives.
Serves as the expert for complex information regarding product, services, and technical integrations, promotions, and configurations.
Develop go to marketing strategies for Print and Marketing Services working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Support inside print sales teams with customer acquisition and retention strategies.
Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. Comfortable with ambiguity.
May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.
Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. Ability to handle most unique situations.
May seek advice to make decisions on complex business issues.
Establishes and maintains strategic plans to promote sales and profit growth.
Support the field with assortment, selling collateral, pricing programs, and customer development programs.
Serve as business lead on technical improvements to Staples owned platform provider which powers Staples’ online print builder.
Identify new business opportunities that would create channel, assortment, and customer expansion.
Develop accurate financial forecastswith Portfolio, Finance, and Accounting management.
6-10 years ofcorporate merchandising/buying or product management
Manufacturingexperience a plus
Excellentcommunication, project management, and ability to juggle multiple projectssimultaneously
Experiencedeveloping and mentoring direct reports
Experience innavigating successfully through a matrixed organization
Ability to travelto present product road shows to field leadership, conduct field research,industry shows, and partner summits
Knowledge and Skills:
Solidunderstanding services business with preferred knowledge of the printingindustry.
Solidunderstanding of developing and implementing go-to-market strategies, customersegmentation, marketing planning key programs & initiatives, structure.
Solidunderstanding of many of vendor products, software, and services. Able tocommunicate the strengths of offerings and overcome objections.
Effectively sellsStaples offerings by building strategic relationships and go to market planswith partner decision makers and sales teams.
Partnerseffectively with others in the organization including sales, marketing, IT andSenior leadership to ensure key metrics are achieved.
Solidunderstanding of pipeline management discipline and ability to explain benefitsto vendors.
Provide feedbackto marketing on content development needs.
Ability to drive for results in a highpressure, environment with extreme deadlines.
