Waste Management (WM), of New England has an exciting career opportunity for an Area Director of Recycling. This is a great opportunity for someone to manage the recycling operations worth an estimated $46 million in annual revenue for the market area.

I. Job Summary

Manages the financial performance and productivity of multiple Operating Units. Ensures that Operating Units meet or exceed annual objectives and successfully implement organizational initiatives. Travels within the market area to visit 9 material recovery facilities.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Develops and implements an operating plan, consistent with the accomplishment of long range established objectives which will enhance effectiveness and delineate responsibilities and authority.

• Reviews and evaluates performance on a continuing basis and establishes proper measures of performance.

• Counsels managers as to execution of programs, and when necessary provides direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans in accordance with prevailing business conditions.

• Develops operating unit budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.

• Evaluates business performance against the operating budget and develops corrective actions as necessary.

• Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities.

• Attends regularly scheduled Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews, and executes prescribed programs on equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.

• Implements and maintains programs to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of the Area; Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT)/Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other Federal and State regulations.

• Consistently analyze market data and trends, prepare competitor analysis, assess new technologies, establish strategic direction and market business strategy (MBS) development

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes:

• Direct supervision of 8 full-time employees, including: managers of multiple MRFs

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.

• Experience: Seven (7) to ten (10) years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

• None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

• Ability to travel up to 50% within the market area to visit the 9 material recovery facilities within the market area consisting of upstate NY, MA, NH RI & ME

• Ability to improve the operations while managing costs including investing in technology
