Family Service Association - Fall River Maintenance Technician in Fall River, Massachusetts

We have an opportunity for a full time (40 hours per week) Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Technician. Primary responsibilities include: Responding promptly to requests as assigned in the Building and Grounds portal, consistently giving highest priority to safety related tasks. Prioritize and complete, and communicate promptly with supervisor if tasks are not completed as assigned. Perform a variety of building maintenance work including but not limited to minor plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical repair. When a licensed contractor is required, report recommendations to the supervisor. Paint and refinish walls, ceilings, woodwork, assemble furniture and other equipment. Move furniture, cabinets, and other equipment as needed. Assist in performing general cleaning such as disinfect and deodorize rest rooms and kitchens, replenish supplies, empty wastebaskets including shed bins and storing securely. Maintain cleanliness of parking lots and walks. Remove snow from sidewalks and treat surfaces when needed. Remove trash and weeds as needed. Set up and breakdown tables, chairs, and/or sound systems for conferences and other meetings and return rooms to standard seating. Ensure all lights, air conditioners and heaters are in working order. Install window air conditioners each spring season for summer use and remove for the fall. Assist monitoring building security and safety, ensuring proper opening and closing, including: locking/unlocking doors, turning on/off lights, air conditioners and heaters, checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created, and turn on/off intrusion alarm. Work effectively as a member of the team. Complete monthly facility check review list. Review with supervisor and repair any deficiencies that are noted at all locations and programs in a timely manner. Maintain a neat and safe work-site and protect property. Report any needed repairs and building concerns that reflect poor quality. Spray insecticides to prevent insect infestation. Complete all other reasonable assignments as directed by supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience and/or training preferred. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes the ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs. occasionally up to 100 lbs. of products and materials, crawl, bend, stoop, lift and carry a 32-foot ladder. Must be skilled in fundamentals of carpentry and plumbing and have the ability to run light power tools and equipment. Must be flexible with work hours for emergencies or weather related issues as needed.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility of schedule will be necessary during times of inclement weather to insure building access and walks are clear of snow.
